โ๏ธ Dates for Couples
drawing games for couples (talent explicitly not required)
The worse you draw, the better these games get - that's the entire business model. Eight formats where two people, paper, and misplaced confidence produce more laughing than most paid entertainment. Fridge-worthy disasters guaranteed.

how to run a drawing date
step 1
Stack the formats
Three games, ten minutes each, from the list below. Portrait swap is the traditional closer because the results get kept.
step 2
Ban apologies
House rule: no 'I can't draw' disclaimers. Confidence is scored; skill is not.
step 3
Time-box everything
Timers create the chaos that creates the comedy. 60-90 seconds per drawing is the sweet spot.
step 4
Archive the masterpieces
Date and sign the best disasters. A folder of years of terrible portraits of each other is a genuine treasure.
โ๏ธ the eight games
- 1. The portrait swap: 90 seconds drawing each other simultaneously, reveal on three. The classic.
- 2. Back-to-back: one describes an object without naming it, the other draws from description only. Then compare with reality.
- 3. Memory sketch: secretly draw a shared memory; partner guesses which memory. Correct guess = point for the artist's clarity or the guesser's love, you decide.
- 4. Two-player pictionary: full word lists on our pictionary page - 60 words, easy to brutal.
- 5. The exquisite corpse: fold paper in thirds; one draws the head, other the body, first the legs - no peeking between sections. Unfold the cryptid you've created together.
- 6. Wrong-hand portraits: non-dominant hands only. The great equalizer for artist-and-civilian couples.
- 7. The 10-second speedrun: ten portraits of each other, ten seconds each. Frame number seven; it's always number seven.
- 8. Draw-the-date: at the end of a date night, both draw the evening's highlight and compare which moment each chose. Quietly the most romantic one here.
variations & upgrades
long-distance canvas
Any shared-whiteboard app on a video call runs six of the eight (portrait swap over camera is chaos in the best way).
the annual portrait
Same pose, once a year, kept in one envelope. Ten years in, it's your favorite possession - drawing skill progress optional and unlikely.
good questions, answered
The eight above - portrait swaps, back-to-back description drawing, memory sketches, pictionary, exquisite corpse, wrong-hand rounds, speedruns, and draw-the-date. All need only paper and pens; none need talent, and being bad genuinely improves them.
