agape vs paired: minimal or guided?

Agape is the app you keep using because it never asks for much. One question, both of you answer, both of you see. There is nothing to configure and nothing to fall behind on beyond a single prompt, which is why it survives busy weeks better than heavier apps do. Its free tier is unusually generous for this category, and its own site says so in as many words.

It is also the only one of the three that is not partner-only. You can run the same daily question with a parent or a friend, which is a genuinely different product idea and the reason some people keep it installed long after the couples app has gone.

Its quizzes and check-ins are framed for a short session, and behind them sit multi-day courses written with therapists and counsellors on conflict, intimacy, the mental load and money. Most couples apps either skip that material or reduce it to a deck of dares.

One detail worth knowing before you compare prices: Paired says a single premium subscription covers both partners, so you are buying one, not two.

If your relationship is in a phase where you want guidance and not just prompts, Paired is the stronger of the two. It reads like a programme, and some weeks that is exactly what you want.

Both are freemium, and in both cases some of what you will want sits behind the paywall. Neither publishes a plain price page: both serve their offers dynamically, so any figure you read in a review, ours included, is a guess about your region. Check your own store listing. On the free tiers, Paired gives you one conversation a day and Agape keeps a chunk of its question categories open.

Both also depend on your partner installing the app. An app that only one of you opens is a diary, not a ritual. Agree on the app together before either of you pays for anything.

Install both on the free tiers on a Monday. By Saturday one of them will be the one you open without being reminded. That is the answer, and it beats any comparison table, including this one.
