10 signs your partner is a good person

It’s simple; a good hearted person makes a relationship ten times better.

Do you have certain expectations when looking for a partner or being in a relationship? Whether it be in their music taste, athleticism, or height? If you do, that’s understandable, but at the end of the day, even if you do find a person who meets all of your standards, none of it really matters if they’re not a good person at heart. So with that being said, what constitutes a good person, and how do you know your partner is one?

1. They Treat Others with Respect

How they treat service workers is a dead giveaway. When you’re on a date at a restaurant and the food takes longer than it should, they are understandably annoyed but never take their frustration out on the workers because they know they’re just doing their jobs.

2. They Actually Listen to You

Instead of looking at their phone while you’re talking to them, they give you their undivided attention and are engaged in what you’re saying. They even remember the little details and bring them up in another conversation, showing that they genuinely care about you and what you have to say.

3. They’re Open-Minded

They are accepting of people from all walks of life. They are always willing to listen to different perspectives that don’t necessarily align with their own. They see the good in everyone, just like how you see the good in them.

4. They’re Humble

They never boast about their accomplishments and make others feel inferior to them by being pretentious. They are not arrogant or condescending and are always eager to learn from people around them to improve themselves further.

5. They Own Up to Their Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes, but what sets a good person apart from everyone else is that they can swallow their pride when they know they’ve done something wrong and take themselves accountable by being honest and apologizing. They can also learn from their wrongdoings and grow as an even better person because of it.

6. They Value Relationships

On top of them making an effort to maintain their relationship with you, they also prioritize their connections with others and make sure that they feel important. Whether it’s calling their parents regularly or asking their friends to hang out, it shows that they value all the people in their lives.

7. They Show their Gratitude

Adding onto them making an effort to keep close connections, they always express their gratitude toward everyone in their lives, making each and every one of them them feel like they matter and are loved.

8. They’re Supportive

You know you can always count on them to have your back in whatever endeavors you pursue. But at the same time, they ensure you don’t make questionable choices and look out for you by voicing their concerns and helping you decide what’s best for yourself.

9. They’re Altruistic

Selflessness comes naturally to them in that they always put others before themselves. They take the time out of their day to help people without being asked, even when it’s inconvenient for them to do so.

10. They’re Trustworthy

You’ve definitely found a good person and partner when you not only feel comfortable enough to tell them anything, knowing that your secret’s safe with them, but you also feel a strong sense of security and freedom to be yourself around them without feeling judged.

Ideally, a good person’s behavior should be consistent with everyone around them, not just with a select few. So, if you think you’ve truly found a partner that possesses almost all of these qualities and is the epitome of a good person, make sure to cherish them.
